This is the pose I got when I said, "Lindsey, let me take a picture of you before dance today with your new skirt on." She did all she could to cover the skirt and not looking at the camera. Oh the acts of a three year old!





This was Lindsey's hair when she got up yesterday! WOW! It is sometimes wild, but really the picture didn't capture the craziness like I thought it would. I guess because I didn't get a side view. Part of the problem is that it was super dirty. It is hard to get a bath in on Wednesday now with church and getting to bed on time. Then Thursday night we somehow missed bath, can't remember now, so last night even though it was SO late, bath was NOT an option any more!






I took this picture with my phone! YES! How adorable is it?! I'm so proud! We decided to take Courtney to the game this week. NO, we are not die hard Bulldog fans. It is just 'what you do' if you live in Greenwood. It isn't bad because they are really good and the games are fun, everyone in town is there! :) We actually sat on the visitor's side. We did that so Courtney would have room to move around. This picture was about the longest she sat still! If we had been amongst the Greenwood crowd....it would not have been good! They are die hards! Courtney would not have been good amongs the crowd and not able to move around. In fact when I told my friend that we were just going to sit over there to have more room I think she thought I was crazy....she's a Greenwood girl! Anyway, Courtney had one paw print and I was so glad she left her bow on. Without any hair and no pink she would have been called a boy for sure! Anyway, it was fun, but Courtney and I left I think close to the end of the first quarter, but I don't even know. Watching the game is impossible because you are watching Courtney to be sure she doesn't fall off of the bleachers! Lindsey stayed with Ryan until the end of the third quarter. The bulldogs won. I don't know what the final score was, but they were favored by 21 going into it....Go Greenwood. We'll work our way up to sitting on the right side, but we aren't ready to get there an hour before the game to get a seat!

Fun Girls!

We had some friends over, our vet friend, for dinner. It was "payback" for him delivering our dogs back to us so we didn't have to drive across town to get them. We grilled and had dinner. This is how I found the kids when I was telling them to come eat. If you can see Lindsey in the gray shirt, she is SO SWEATY because she and Abi had been outside. I pulled her hair up because she was sweating so bad and just looked so hot! Brandon is 20 months old, beside Lindsey. Abi and Courtney are looking at a book together! So cute!




Courtney wants to play with Lindsey all the time! She just watches everything that Lindsey does. This was cute the other morning when they were having a tea party! Courtney will even pretend to drink like the rest of us. They sure pick things up quickly! Lindsey will let Courtney play most of the time and other times, like once yesterday, she says that Courtney is "boddering" aka bothering her and started hitting her on the back to try and get her to move. She doesn't do this very often, so it is something that we talk about when it happens.

Lindsey likes to color! She LOVES to color! This is how I found her coloring. This is one BIG difference in my girls already...Lindsey can and will just sit and do something, even on top of the table and I don't worry that she's going anywhere. Courtney on the other hand I can't trust to sit in a chair!

Diamond Update

Well, here's the damage! What a week and a half for her! She had surgery again on Tuesday of this week after the surgery the Tuesday before. I think I've already written about it, so I won't tell the whole story again. Our friend that did the surgery said this time he would put a splint on her leg so we dont' have to watch her as far as how much she tries to do anything. She can do as much as she wants to with this thing, or as much as she is able. I think this picture makes it look bigger from the angle I was at, but it is bigger than her leg. She drags it behind her or she sounds like a peg leg walking! It is entertaining, but sad at the same time. She is still on meds in the morning and at night, so she just sleeps a lot and doesn't get around much during the day. In the evening she gets around, when Ryan comes home (he babies her BIG TIME!) and I guess the morning med has worn off and the night meds she doesn't get until she goes to bed. She doesn't try to do anything really, but she gets around ok. I think this lasts 2 weeks with the hard cast and then another week of soft cast! She's doing great for what she's been through though! Me on the other hand, I just about can't handle 2 kids and a dog that is needy!

GO HOGS BEAT BAMA!

Well, today is another big football day here at the Scogin house! The Hogs play Alabama away! That is a game that Ryan and I went to a few years ago and is a fun place to play. It poured rain on us there and it went into several overtimes (Ryan would make fun of me for not remembering) and we won. It was great! A friend of ours in Memphis is a Bama fan, so we'll just keep praying for her! Ha ha!

Friday Night Football

So, we are in full force football season here in Greenwood, AR! Oh my word! It is crazy! I knew "everyone" went to the game, but I didn't know it was literally basically the entire town. I made these ribbons yesterday for Lindsey and her friend Paige who we were going to the game with. Lindsey was so excited to go see the Bulldogs! We went with Paige, but I can not begin to describe to you how crowded it was 45 min. before kickoff! I think the whole town was there. Now I wish I had taken a picture! Anyway, the other part of the Friday night story is that my cousin Katherine and Evan came to the game. Greenwood was playing Shiloh Christian School which is in Springdale. Katherine's husband, Chris, works as a trainer/pt with Shiloh. So, he convinced her to come to the game with him (he was on the sidelines) and hang out with us and watch the game. So, it was fun to hang out with Katherine and Evan.

As you can see we ended up standing by the fence. We had a great "view" when they almost scored several times right in front of us, but as the bleachers were full, so was the fence. This is the fence looking at the Greenwood side. Again, great place to take a picture of the crowd, but hey...we were busy! Lindsey and Evan loved the fireworks that went off when Greenwood scored. They are a passing team and quick offense. So is Shiloh, so it was an exciting game. Not much defense, but both teams are known for their passing game. Shiloh passes so much that they moved their games to 7:00 at home because they last so long! The score with 2 min to go in the 3rd quarter was 52-21 Greenwood. The final was 52-35 when Greenwood put in their 2nd team. We didn't stay until the end. The kiddos got bored since they really couldn't see much. So, Evan and Lindsey played while Katherine, Mom and I talked. Mom came down to watch Courtney for us and get her hair cut/colored down here (it is SO cheap!). Chris finally got here at 11:00 after treating a palyer after the game. So, it was a long night and Lindsey got in bed at like 11:15 or something crazy! Fun night and we'll hope she sleeps in!

Finally...fall weather!

Yesterday the girls and I had fun outside for a little while. It felt like a true fall morning before we went to church for MOPS, so I thought they looked so cute in their jeans, t-shirts and tennis shoes! After resting we played outside for a little while. The weather was pretty, but had just enough warm air that if the breeze wasn't blowing it was almost warm. But, the breeze was cool so at least we are close to cool weather! I love it! It is funny how you associate things like I can go out in the moring of July and August and in that "cool" (for those months!) morning yet still hot the feeling reminds me of early morning cheerleading practices at the football field years ago! Then this time of year I remember and associate this weather with my birthday, next week! :) It is just funny how those things come to mind. I can remember the year I got a 10 speed bike, I can remember what I was wearing! A navy dress with horizontal pink stripes and a pink bow on the side of my head with my white keds! My 10 speed was aqua in every sense of the word, truely aqua! Anyway, I can remember those "outside" moments and relate it to this new, cool breeze!
Courtney loved swinging, but kept letting go and she would have fallen out! A whole new world for this mom. Lindsey did not let go she was too scared! So, I'm adjusting my mothering to controlling the adventuresome child. Lindsey liked walking in a line on the barriers around the swing set. She did a great job! Her athletic abilities will be something along those lines, ballet (she LOVED it and is so excited to go back tonight!) and gymnastics. We'll see, but she's not tough yet so basketball or volleyball is not what I see her doing. I'm fine with whatever abilities God has given her and she wants to do! I just look forward to see what those are!
















Ok, totally unimportant, but yet a big deal in our life here in Greenwood....the water! Excuse the long story, but here goes...when we were moving here there were several neighborhoods that "advertised" in their home info. that they were Greenwood Schools and Fort Smith utilities. Of course we had no idea what this meant and our realtor was from Ft. Smith, so I don't know if she knew or not and those houses we didn't look closely at so it never came up really. Anyway, somehow the people of Greenwood have not thrown a big enough fit to have clean water ALL THE TIME! It is unreal. This picture is last night as I was getting some water for Courtney to take a bath. Unbelieveable that the water bill just went up too isn't it!? Yes, we just had a price increase on last month's bill! Oh my word! I told Ryan I was taking a picture and sending it to the water dept. Apparently people here are not complaining enough. Every few months we recieve a letter in the mail about how there were too many somethings and too much of something else and too little misc. in the water, but it isn't hazordous to our health. If it isn't hazordous, then why do they have to tell us? I'm so frustrated, can you tell?! Anyway, anyone want to move to Greenwood? I'm so sick of not being able to bathe my children because of water that is dirtier than they are. Oh, Ryan was home early yesterday and I was doing this bath early for Courtney so he called the water dept. and they said, "They are flushing the lines" (that was exactly what she said to him) as if that makes it ok for us to have brown water!!! I had TONS of laundry to do today, but I just did the towels and coloreds so that our laundry would not be dirty when it came out of the washer! I asked a friend that grew up in Greenwood and she said that is what she did. So, that is my "soap box" on Greenwood water. Moral of the story: don't take your clean water for granted!

All About Courtney

Ok, this one needs some explaining from every end....First of all, it was Sunday morning and you can actually see the progression of getting dressed in the first three pictures. First, she was dressed in her "diaper panties", knee socks and shoes. I leave her pj shirt on for breakfast. Then it was off and I wanted a close up of her cute, chubby legs with her name on her booty. I didn't get a good close up, but this one was cute I thought. Then this was after I had waken her up for church (yes, she gets up so early that she takes a short nap if possible before church!) so she had her "sucker" still in. The bow actually lasted until we got to church. I'm guessing it came off pretty quickly in her class, but we actually made it out the door with a bow on Courtney's head. Persitance is the key I guess! Now to the dog food. She used to try and eat it, but hopefully we are past that. Anyway, her most favorite thing to do is to pull all of the things in a certain cabinet out. Luckily it is things she can pull out, like a whisk! So, she decided to go stir the dog food. She was stirring it, so it was going everywhere. Then of course she thought that was funny, Dixon was eating the food and so it was a fun game. I thought it was pretty genius (ha ha) to know to stir! She thought it was great, but after the kodak moment, I ended that mess aka game to Courtney!


This was Courtney at supper tonight. I bought those pants at Wal-Mart and think the are just precious! She looked like a big girl today as she was walking in to school so I had to have a picture of her today!

This I guess is one of those posts that will be just Courtney since the 2nd child doesn't get much of that. She's changing a lot and I just can't believe how big she is. She's teething so badly! :( At her first birthday she only had 2 teeth! The bottom 2. Now she has the beginings of 1 that has come through on the top and the other is close. The next 2 on either side of those on the top are also pushing through, so she's having a tough time some days. She's jibber jabbering all the time and walking and following Lindsey around everywhere! It is cute to watch them learn to play together and actually want to! Lindsey can change her mind pretty quickly though and Courtney then doesn't understand. Most of the time Lindsey is really good with her!

Cutie Patooties!

This is Courtney's new trick. Climbing in Lindsey's Dora chair and not knowing how to get down. I've tried to show her to turn around, so maybe that is why she's standing like this. I don't know. Lindsey had made a train with her three chairs and Courtney was loving it, but then that 3 seconds was over! As you can see, Courtney likes to also try to stand, get down, I'm not sure because I haven't let her get that far, but notice where her one foot is....trying to get on the arm of the chair or step off of it, not sure. Either way, it scares me! Lindsey was NOT a monkey like this, so I just don't know what to do with Courtney! So far we don't have any major falls, but I know we will and I won't know what to do!


This is Lindsey's good friend, Paige. Her sweet mother, my friend Tracy came over to keep the girls for us last night. Ryan has been out of town pretty much all week with work and then a fishing tournament. So, we needed a date night. We have traded babysitting services with these friends before and it works out great! So, Tracy (and Gary Don)...THANK YOU! Lindsey had fun playing with Paige. They don't see eachother as much as they used to because Paige started pre-school and Lindsey didn't. So, they had fun playing! Tracy said they got along so well and played together so much. Paige had been at fun day on the square and had her face painted...thus the "whiskers" (used to be) as she was a cat.

On a totally different note...our pomeranian dog, Diamond who will be 8 in December tore her OTHER (yes, she'd already torn her right one) ACL yesterday. Luckily we have a friend that is a vet and he was able to come by and tell us what had happened. She wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, just jumped out of Ryan's chair like she has done a million times before. Nick was actually on his way home from work, so he stopped by and told us that is what he is pretty sure she did. She hollared so loud that we knew she had done something, but we never thought about that! He explained it that animals that have one done, means that it is just in them so both knees have been bad since birth and her left one just lasted longer. He said they will just slowly tear and so yesterday when she jumped it was just the last thread that tore, so it is gone. Anyway...we get to have Diamond's knee fixed this week. Fun times! What is better than 2 kids is 2 kids and 2 dogs, right?! Sometimes I'm not sure...about the dogs!

"She's a dancing queen...."

Here she is, telling Honey all about her leotard and dance shoes. She wanted to put this on after her nap and was so excited all day about dance.

Check out those cheeks! It is ok when you are 3, but that is it, right?! We went in the room where they have dance, picked a chair to sit in and waited. She kept asking me when she was going to get to dance. She doesn't know any of the other girls in her class, but some of the moms looked familiar from church. So, they may be a little older than her, but from church. She was so focused on watching the other girls and stuff, when I came back in to take this picture, she didn't even notice.

When I picked her up, Mrs. Liz was putting her ballet shoes back on her. I was told by Lindsey that they can't wear their tap shoes outside. I think we have a "serious" teacher. Which is good. The little I remember they learned tonight...first position. Lindsey showed me that and then she said, "We put our arms up and down like this." She had the idea of putting her head above her arms and stuff. So, she obviously was listening some. Mrs. Liz said, "She's precious." So, I'm glad that Lindsey at least didn't stand there, she apparently did some stuff. What can you expect, she's 3. I don't expect much, but I don't want to pay money for her to stand there and not do it either. Mrs. Liz acted as though they did stuff as much as a first timer 3 year old would do. Then the fact that Lindsey could show me and tell me stuff made me excited. I think she really liked it. Who knows, maybe we have a professional dancer on our hands!
