One Week and Counting....

I don't have any pictures but thought I'd type about being ONE WEEK away from having this precious baby in my arms! There are lots of very random things that are going through my head. Just to name a few:

• I should be cleaning something I'm sure.
• What will my girls think? How will they act?
• Is it a BOY or GIRL!??!?! (this is probably at the top of the list)
• I pray so much that our baby is healthy and that all things will go smooth. I really start to worry about this, but have to just trust God.
• We really don't have very much for our baby to wear...hmmm...I'm sure grandparents will supply a few pink or blue things to get us by! :)
• Is this really happening? What is it going to be like having a tiny baby in the car again?
• That carrier can get so heavy!
• It is going to be SO HARD to lose this baby weight and I dread every.single.minute of trying!

I don't know what else, but during these last few days of "calm" I hope I can enoy my girls, relax, and just look forward to this blessing God is giving us!

Biggest and Big

Today I finally felt somewhat "caught up" and such, so I had the energy and thoughts to start packing bags for the hospital and trip to Fayetteville. This was what the girls did when I told them I had a surprise (Honey has them trained) for them. Not really sure how or why Lindsey is making that funny face.

I absolutely love these smiles!

Yeah! Here they are...surprise! They liked their shirts, but I think were a bit disappointed with it being "just a shirt" as their surprise. Too stinkin' cute! I can't wait for next Wed to see them come in and meet this baby wearing these shirts! Ohhhh the anticipation....

These will be the BEST 2 big sisters in the world!

Farmer Lindsey

Today at preschool it is dress like a farmer day! Lindsey was so excited. She likes dressing up, which is sort of funny to me with her personality. We borrowed some boots and jeans from our friend Kennedy! I didn't even have a bandana, so I borrowed that from Erin! Ha! I was obviously not real prepared for this. However, I think she looks absolutely adorable!

Overprotective Mom Mode

So here I am, 3 weeks from having a newborn. Here we sit, hearing about H1N1/Swine Flu, Flu shots, FluMist, it's too early, you can get another one, blah blah blah....talk about information overload. I literally sat down this morning to have my quiet time, opened my Bible Study book and couldn't even do it. I had to sit there and just cry out to Jesus to take it all away--take away all the worry and control I have been trying to have over this situation. I have been debating my head over and over how to handle having a baby in Oct with this crazy flu situation. Ohhh the joys of motherhood!

I had talked to the pediatricians office last week about my options, talked to my OBGYN, talked to the pediatrician again, talked to Ryan, not to mention friends, mom, etc. After the giving up the drama and thinking about the big picture and what would be best I decided to go with the FluMist for my girls. It is a "live"virus which doesn't mean a whole lot other than they can have some sort of symptoms and side effects a week after the vaccine. That was some of my fear, but decided that a couple of days where the girls MIGHT (it isn't everyone that takes it) feel bad for a couple of days. The FluMist protects them for a year!!!

Then there is the whole getting Lindsey to take the FluMist up her nose. Which is worse, shot or spraying something up her nose?! I wasn't sure. However, it turns out the FluMist is what we will do EVERY.SINGLE.TIME! She just sat there and did perfectly! I was amazed. Courtney did the same, but she hasn't been such a freak about the shots before like Lindsey has.

Then we stopped at the pharmacy and I got a shot. Lindsey was so interested in watching me get a shot it was almost funny. Courtney missed it and was mad she didn't see me get a shot. Ha! Luckily I was very brave and showed Lindsey how to do it...simply stand there! :)

I'm going to pray that they don't get the side effects, which apparently don't last long and just are "flu like symptoms" in the just don't feel good, runny nose, and maybe fever. But, you treat the symptoms and it doesn't last long. So, it wouldn't be bad, but I'm going to pray it doesn't happen! If you will, I'd appreciate it if you would pray for me and the girls. That they wouldn't get sick and that I wouldn't worry about it!

At least we are all protected, at least the girls and I, for when this baby comes. I told Ryan he needed to get a flu shot this year and he agreed. I just don't think it will be before the baby comes.

Gymnastics...out of order (scroll down for more!)

This is the reason I've been behind in posting/blogging/pictures...I've lost my Kodak Easyshare program when our computer crashed. So I have no "editing" (not that I do anything big) program. I started using Picasa which I love, but it is limited in how many pictures you can upload from their to blogger. Then if I try and save it, it doesn't save my edited version. FRUSTRATED! I'm sure some of you who use it more could tell me what to do....if so, HELP!

Anyway. Here are some pictures totally out of order, but pictures none the less of Courtney starting gymnastics. I wish they were in order....

They climped up this "rope wall" and then flipped over.

They then moved to the low bar and learned "front support" and flipped over. Courtney kept wanting to let go and reach for the mat below her when her teacher (Miss Sheena) would flip her. It was pretty cute and funny to watch!

Gymnastics (should be first)

Here is the beginning of class. It is so cute to see her stretch her little legs!

Walking over to the "beans" aka beams! Ha! If you look close, you can see Courtney walking with her hands on her hips! Seriously...

This is how they teach cartwheels. Put your hands down and jump over. She does really well! She seems to love it! She can do a forward roll and is not afraid to do whatever they ask of her. She hsa loved the trampoline and the rings (hanging on them). They had to do a backbend over this big circle thing today and she did it all by herself and then flipped herself over. She is so glad to be doing "big girl stuff" like Lindsey!

Lindsey started back this afternoon too. I was a little nervous about her going back and not being really into it. However, I was really impressed with how she did. She jumped right back in and seemed to be doing even better. She has a new teacher and one that I think will really teach her a lot! Her big accomplishment of today was standing and reaching back to do a backbend. She did it by herself. However, when we got in the car I asked her what she thought. She said, "I didn't like it. That teacher does hard stuff." I reminded her how successful she had been at it and how she was learning new things. She wouldn't just always do rolls and that was all. She just grinned. I think she is just that kid that is going to need a lot of encouragement and "adda girls" to keep going. She doesn't like to do it if it is hard or if she is unsure, but it is good for her and when she does it, she does a good job. The lessons and things we learn as parents, through our children. I hope I can be the encourager she needs and not get frusrated with her!

Picture Update

Here are some pictures to go along with my post from a few days ago (scroll down if you haven't read my "update")....

One night we kept baby Klaire for Katie. The girls got some good practice! It was cute in so many ways and overwhelming in others. Cute becuase....look at these pictures. They were so excited to help.

And as cute as all of this is...it is overwhelming because I'm not sure the "newness" will wear off wtih these girls and this baby. I'm afraid that they will literally maul me and the baby anytime they have the chance! Ha! I'm glad they are excited, glad they want to help, but at the same time, afraid of how much "help" I'm going to have! I know it will work out, but it was an eye opener for sure. Even to Ryan. When he was holding Klaire (which is a whole other story--he gets her out of her seat ALL THE TIME to hold and play with her, it is almost funny) Lindsey had a SUPER hard time sharing! Maybe because Klaire isn't "ours" but we'll see. We actually talked last night as a family about how it is getting so close and how we are going to have to all share Mommy and Daddy with the new baby and not get mad about it. We'll see....

This is where my cousin Jordan got married. It is an old plantation and is beautiful! It was warm, but not nearly as bad as it could have been. (August 29th in central/south AR)

The girls did not want to sit down, but run around in the grass on the side, which was fine. It was cute to watch them with Ryan.

Here is Jordan! Courtney and Jordan have bonded at our Watts Reunions the past couple of years. She calls him her "friend" which is so funny! Jana was not close so we couldn't get a picture with the bride and groom...but she was beautiful. Not sure what Courtney's face is, but she was SUPER excited to see Jordan!

And here is how they left the reception (that was there on the grounds of the plantation)...YES, A HELICOPTER! It was so cool. The neat part about it is that Jordan nor Jana are real "showy" people. It was a surprise to most of the people there. Very very cool! The girls of course thought it was awesome!

Then we got a waterslide. The girls LOVED it to say the least. We weren't sure if we'd be able to get it out this year, but "lucky for us" it got hot again for a week and they lived on it! They played on it for HOURS at a time....I didn't get a picture of the entire thing (not sure why!) but here are a few with friends.

This is just a classic picutre of Lindsey. This is the big box the waterslide was in. She had been playing on the slide, then found the box to play in. Normal, right....then found the big piece of styrofoam that is made up of millions and billions of little white balls. She sat in this box and "picked" at that styrofoam taking apart TONS of little balls. Not even bothering to take her goggles off that she was wearing on the waterslide.

Now that I'm sort of caught up, I hope to stay on top of things. We sort of worked on the nursery last night, I hope to get it "finished" as it is going to be sometime in the next week or so. Pictures coming of that. Today I remembered the camera and have some cute pics of Courtney at gymnastics, so....I hope to stay on top of things again!

Scogin Family Update (or lack of)

I just realized how long it has been since I posted. I'm usually better than that...what in the world? I have some pictures on my camera I need to upload to post. Nothing big, just random things.

There have just been some busy times around here lately...nothing major, just busy.

• We had a Watts cousin get married in Little Rock, so we went to that. It was beautiful and I have some pictures I will try and get on here.
• Lindsey is LOVING her school. She just doesn't like going on Tuesdays because she has to stay for rest time and according to her "they rest for too long" (an hour) and she doesn't like it.
• Courtney is having fun at MDO. She thinks she's so big going to school like Lindsey!
• I'm tired...a lot and sweat even more! I think this has been the hottest month for me (even if it isn't the temp outside). I just sweat all the time! Hormones I hope that will change after this baby comes!
• Other than being hot and tired I can't complain. This baby moves a lot (which is so nice and so reassuring to me!) I go to the doctor every Tuesday between now and Oct. 7th. So lots of travel (pray for my safety please) to Fayetteville for me.
• Courtney started gymnastics this week and Lindsey starts next week. It was fun to watch Courtney be so "big!" She loved it and looked cute doing it of course! Lindsey is excited for her class on Monday!
• We have the annual Cintas family picnic this weekend--praying for no rain--so that should be fun. The girls are excited. Ryan will be busy with it, so I'll be chasing the girls as Ryan has to "network" with all of his people and families. He's so good at that and that is why he is such a good manager with his people!
• Tonight we are having dinner with Ryan's grandparents that now live in AZ! Cynda's mom and dad--we are meeting in Springdale so that will be nice to see them. We don't see them very much at all.

I guess that is the "small" update without pictures! Courtney and I are at home having a lazy morning! I got my house "picked up" yesterday and am hoping to get some (limited) cleaning done today! We'll see...
