Whitney's Dedication

Today we had Whitney's dedication at church. It is just such a special time. I'm so thankful for a church that invests in families in a special way! My mom brought these precious cakes! It is sort of hard to see--petifores that spell "Whitney's Dedication" Precious! I loved it! Thanks Honey! You are so thought ful! Honey and Granddad came to church with us this morning.

This is an AWESOME picture of them!
They do a short, quick "announcement" of Whitney in the service. It is just a time they announce the baby and give us a letter of what happened. That we prayed for the day of her salvation and that our church prayed for her. Simple and sweet.

Then after lunch we went back to church. They do a private, intimate dedication for each family! It is so sweet. We were there a little early so we took some pictures! The girls were in such a good mood and were being so sweet!

Taylor and Amber asked Lindsey and Courtney to be flowergirls at their wedding. They were excited, but I think mom and I were more excited. They (the girls) didn't reall react, but I know they will do great and have a blast doing it! All of that to say that we told them to practice, so they did.....

This is our pastor, Bro. Ronnie Deal. He is an amazing pastor. He makes such an effort to know us and to be so real! I am so thankful for his example and his leadership!

I am also thankful for all of our family! They made such the effort to come and we are so greatful for them. It was such a special time!

This day is going to be a special memory!

Kindergarten Registration

Today I registered Lindsey for Kindergarten! It was a fun day for us! I wanted to do it with just her and no sisters. So a sweet friend kept my little girls so we could have some BIG GIRL time together. That doesn't really ever happen. It made me realize that we should do thtat more often, but not sure when to fit that into our schedule. She went to school this morning and I picked her up for lunch. We went to eat Mexcican and we were there when the doors opened, so it was super fast food! Yummy too!

As much as I love pictures, I'm not good at taking my camera lots of places. However, I wanted to make this memory last. Here we are before we filled out all the paperwork! By the end, Lindsey was asking me how many papers there were! I laughed and told her to count how many times I had to write her name! It was 7 times!
We are so excited for Lindsey to start this new phase of life. She is more than ready. She's reading wonderfully and loves math too! Right now we are gearing up for preschool graduation! I'm certain it will be precious! She's ready to graduate, have a fun summer and start school!

Old Navy Sale

My friend Erin blogs about her great Walgreen finds, so I thought I'd blog about my great Old Navy finds! Another friend Sherry told me about a sale at ON today that if you were one of the first 50 customers, you got 50% off everything you bought. So of cousre I couldn't miss out on that! So, Sherry and her little boy Dacen, me, Courtney and Whitney loaded up early this morning and got to ON at 9:00. They open at 9:30. We made it! We were one of the first 50! It was so hard not to buy things just because it was a good deal whether or not we might need more shirts or not. But, I tried to make good decisions! After all was said and done I spent $110! Here is what I got:
Shoes for W, sweater for R, 5 shirts, 2 tanks and a dress for me, skirt and watch for L, skirt, 5 shirts and watch for C! WOW! That is A LOT of clothes! Several things I bought were on sale, so really I got more than $220 worth of clothes! (some of Courtney's shirts were marked down to $4.99 so they were $2.50!) Like I said, I could have spent a whole lot more....but I was really trying to be good! Thanks Sherry for the invite! (I'm not sure if Ryan thanks you or not, but at least I "saved him $$")

Courtney Ann

This is Courtney...wishing for her friend to play. It was later one evening, they took an early bath and we had a late supper. They had been playing and playing with their friends that live across the street. Courtney was so upset that she had to come in. She was literally filthy! After her bath she asked if she could go back outside with Bethany. Of course the answer was no, so she was playing games on Ryan's phone. This is where she played....right in front of the window where she constantly looked up to see if Bethany was outside (she wans't, because she was home getting ready for bed too). It was so cute and "so Courtney" to want to just play and play. I think she's my social butterfly! This is the jeep that Ryan and I got Lindsey for her 2nd birthday. Courtney hasn't really been able to drive it, but we got a new battery and thought this would be the time she could do it! It was such a hit! It was like Christmas morning to her! I don't know if you can see her face clearly enough to understand how excited, happy, joyful, laughing with excitement and squeeling this little girl was experiencing! It was a priceless moment to see her face! She drove and drove and drove....

Whitney has finally decided to take a bottle. She's taking 2 a day and for now, I'm very pleased with that. I'm not ready to be totally done feeding her, but am thankful that we can be out and about and she can take a bottle. So, yesterday morning, Courtney asked if she could feed Whit. Of course! This was so cute! This bottle still had Courtney's name on it. Wow! I can remember handing her those bottles and her holding them! Now she's 3 1/2 and feeding her baby sister!

Courtney is a fun little girl! She is very tenderhearted. If someone is crying, Courtney wants to help. She's a great sister! She does whatever Lindsey tells her. Ha! (most of the time!) She thinks she's so big! She wants to do everything Lindsey is doing!

Whitney June

I sometimes forget to post pics of just some fun times during our days that we are hanging out. Here is a look we get A LOT from Whitney! She has been sucking on these fingers more and more! She won't take a paci at all and hasn't for a few months. I didn't try really hard to force it instead of her fingers, but I may regret that when she's walking around like this at her high school graduation! Ha! I was a thumb sucker until 4th grade, so I know sooner or later it will stop....one day....right now it's pretty stinkin' cute though (and helpful during the night too!)This is sort of a funny picture, but at the same time, this is a look I get quite often...her eyes can "speak volumes" and they do! They can get SO big. I love it! And yes, she is almost sitting up!

This was a couple of weeks ago during the kitchen redo...she sat in this a lot and loved it (most of the time). She's a the perfect age for the exersaucer because she is so entertained by colors, noises, movement, etc. I'm lovin' my big girl!!

Some things I want to remember about Easter 2010:

Courtney:

• When you ask Courtney why we have Easter, this is her response: "Jesus died on the cross and came back to our lives." (said in the most precious little voice you've ever heard)
• While making the Easter Story Cookies, the first thing we had to do was to crush the pecans. This was related with the verse about the soldiers beating Jesus. The version we read mentioned that they "hit him in the face" so when we told the girls to smash the pecans with the spoon, Courtney (because she is the most tenderhearted little girl) immediatly said, "Like we are hitting Jesus face? Why did they do that? That's not nice. Jesus is special and they shouldn't hit him in the face."

Lindsey:

• We made Resurrection rolls and the marshmallow "disappeared" (aka melted) in the roll, representing Jesus not being in the grave on Easter morning. Well, when we were eating them and talking about that, Ryan was talkking and saying that it disappeared and Lindsey in her "I'm so big" sort of look, looked at me and mouthed "It didn't really disappear did it mom, it just melted." Why yes, Lindsey. It just melted, but the idea is that it isn't there like it was, just like Jesus isn't in the grave. Sometimes she is TOO literal for her own good!

I'm thakful for a family that loves Jesus and celebrates HIM!

Easter Day

For my own point of reference in the future: The girls got home and we had to wait on ALL of our extended family to get to our house and have lunch before we did our afternoon egg hunt. Obviously I wasn't going to make the girls stay in their dresses through lunch and wait. So, they asked to change and I said yes. Lindsey picked her Razorback pink shirt and red shorts. I obviously would have chosen something different. However, I heard her explaining to Honey that she picked the shirt and decided to get red shorts because that is the Razorback color. Can't argue with that can you? :)

Easter Eve

We started a new tradition in the Scogin family this year and I'm super excited about it. A friend, Erin, gave me a recipe that I hadn't heard of called "Resurrection Rolls" and "Ressurection Cookies" (which I renamed Easter Story cookies like Martha called them). Apparently I have been living under a rock because after talking about it, lots of people knew of the rolls and/or cookies.

Here are the girls crushing the pecans for the cookies. This part was to represent how the soldiers beat Jesus before he was crucified. Courtney has a really tender heart and said, "Why did they beat him?" Because they didn't like him and thought he wasn't doing good things. Courtney said, "But Jesus is special and they shouldn't hit him." Melt.my.heart.
What an awesome Daddy!

As much as I didn't want to get in the pic because I wasn't "ready" for it, I wanted to be part of the memory of this special night.
